Repetition with a limit
A recursive surface should come from a repeatable construction, not a stack of similar objects.
The source idea
The source extrudes cube faces, sends Extrude Mesh’s Top output to Scale Elements’ Selection and reuses that pair in four group passes. Face Area then selects an extra extrusion on larger faces.
Our interpretation
Monolith now implements that Geometry Nodes construction. Four instances share one Extrude-and-Scale group, followed by a Face Area greater-than comparison and a selected fifth pass. The master preserves the editable graph; the GLB evaluates its actual resulting mesh.
Orbit the cube and follow repeated inset facets from a large face into the smaller side faces. Open the Blender master to change the shared depth and scale controls.
What this study demonstrates
This is hands-on practice of the source node technique. The teal metallic presentation is our material choice; the source’s transparent glass and internal lights are not reproduced.
