A landscape from a field
A surface becomes a landscape when height, boundary and object contact agree.
The source idea
The displacement lesson distinguishes a per-point position offset from a whole-object transform and explains the need for sufficient mesh density.
Our interpretation
Otherworld uses position noise for height and a radial falloff to anchor its edge. Its first render exposed floating rocks; the revised generator samples the evaluated surface before placing them and gives the terrain real thickness.
Orbit low along the slab edge, then inspect the mineral contacts. The landscape should feel attached to its base.
What this study demonstrates
This is a generated static landscape. No erosion or terrain physics is running in the browser.
