Shape the dark

A sculptural object needs darkness as much as illumination.

The source idea

The cinematic-lighting lesson uses a broad source above and behind the subject to shape form, preserving contrast through the world and background.

Our interpretation

The kinetic viewer offers a balanced studio look and a stronger rim treatment. On Chrysalis, the second setup suppresses frontal fill and emphasizes the petal boundaries, changing how the same model is read.

Look closely

Pause the reveal, then toggle Rim light. Compare the silhouette and the visibility of the inner core.

What this study demonstrates

Browser environment lighting differs from the Cycles studio reference; this is an intentional second presentation of the model.
