Onsen
A cedar pavilion opens behind ivory paper screens. Overlapping roof tiles, suspended lights and a low tea setting create a quiet threshold.
The source idea
A tiled temple is framed by foliage, pools and layered roofs. Cool atmosphere contrasts with sunlit edges and weathered architectural detail.
Our interpretation
Our original pavilion is a smaller timber setting: individually overlapped roof tiles sit on rafters and ties, while solid posts support the upper beams. Each paper screen contains a wooden lattice and slides on an independent keyed parent. Lanterns, cushions and a low tea table establish scale.
Scrub to open the paper screens, then orbit around a roof edge to inspect the overlap and rafter support. The lantern suspension moves independently of the doors.
What this study demonstrates
This is an original environment informed by the identified source observations. It uses editable Blender construction, scanned CC0 maps or locally baked procedural materials, and an authored eight-second loop. The interactive export uses real-time PBR lighting and shadows; it does not reproduce a Cycles volumetric render or use the creator’s paid asset packs.
